Portable Air Compressor FAQ
What are the benefits of a portable air compressor?
A portable air compressor is hugely beneficial for many reasons. Firstly, the fact that they are smaller than static compressors and have wheels and/or a handle make them easier to move to where you need them with minimal effort.
Secondly, they can often handle a large variation of tasks such as inflating tyres, powering air tools, cleaning, spraying and blowing.
In most cases, portable air compressors run from electric, making them ideal for home use and more accessible in different environments.
What air compressor is good for home use?
Any of the compressors listed above are good for your home garage. The main you thing you ned to keep in mind is what you will be using the compressor for. For more infrequent use and smaller tasks you will most likely need a compressor that is on the smaller end of the scale – so looking at our ranges below 10 litres or with the 24 litre tank.
If you are a very keen hobbyist or perhaps a small workshop in which the compressor will be used more frequently, you may need a compressor with a bigger tank, so perhaps a 50 litre or 100 litre receiver may be better.
Are portable air compressors worth buying?
In our opinion, yes, although it does of course depend on what you intend to use it for. A portable air compressor is versatile and can perform a range of different tasks, making it a great purchase for keen DIYers, hobbyists and workshops. However, if you were looking to buy one just to inflate your tyres every 6 months, then it’s probably better that you save your money and just buy a good tyre inflator instead!
